Let me just start with this... all of my friends knows that I'm a big Star Trek fan. I've been almost all my life and in fact when it comes to my friends and my old schoolmates they always associated me wit the series. I have numerous encounters with people whom I come across with in my life and 9 out of 10 times they always added into their first sentence that "hey, I've seen Star Trek was on a couple of weeks ago and I though of you!" and that was always something I was really proud of. It was nothing like a pat in the back, but they placing me in their mind in to the same shelf as they place Star Trek I'm truly honoured. Aside my Trekkie side of course i love and watch other franchises like Doctor Who, The Orville and probably the not very well remembered SeaQuest DSV as well... and of course Star Wars. I've never considered myself a massive fan, but I enjoyed the movies as a casual geek. If you would ask me between the difference of the different light-sabres I would fail instantly, but I do know a few catch phase, the basic characters and more or less the story as well. If you happened to be a Star Wars fan dear reader please apologise my geek if I make any mistake here. :) In the UK, I've rarely seen anything that really showed a different experience, a bar that you wanted to go for as a geek. Living in London for quite a few years I've never really had the power to go out and have a drink as places are usually pubs and quirky bars ,but nothing for a geek that would love to have a sort of "mini convention" while enjoying a glass of mocktail - I don't drink, so that is what's for me. When we moved to Edinburgh and started discovering the city we came by this little not very much ion the "stream line" shopping centre location mini pop up bar, the Pop Up Geeks, the themed cocktail bar. The first time we ended up just peeking in they've had the whole place dressed up for the theme of Stranger Things that was just amazing and very well done. After discovering the place I've told my wife we should come back here again and have a drink as we both love the show and the place just looked amazing. :) Not Your Usual Space PortIn our recent visit we been expecting to see the Stranger Things set up as we have anticipated it before, however as we found out, the theme of the bar changes in every 3 months which is a very interesting concept. As i turned out they have had name interesting themes already from Harry Potter to Stephen King's Horror theme to the current Star Wars Cantina. As I've mentioned earlier I'm not a massive Star Wars fan, but this place kinda made me want to re-watch those movies. The setup is very imperial themed with a feeling that you are in the Death Star. There's amazing posters and wall paintings serves as decoration in the venue with amazingly themed "Space Music" from the Cantina. Overall a nice place with very friendly prices. The attention to detail and to make some amazing feature cocktails is just superb. You can literally get any kind of light-sabre styled drink from other Star Wars inspired shenanigans. The decoration aside the paintings and the posters are amazing, they even have the "freezed/cemented Han Solo" as a decoration which is super cool. The staff is super friendly and they also have a specific imperial styled uniform on which personally I've found a really nice touch to the atmosphere. Over all we have had an amazing time in the place and we probably will be going back again when there'll be a new setup. I only hope that they will do a Star Trek themed setup as well in the future... that would be simply "logical." :) _\\//
